제1차 한미 안보정책구상(SPI)회의 결과
⊙ 제1차 한미 안보정책구상(SPI)회의가 2.3(목) 국방부에서 개최되었다. 동 회의에는 우리측의 안광찬 국방부 정책실장과 미측의 롤리스 아태부차관보를 수석대표로하여 양국의 외교/국무부, 합참 등의 관계관이 참가하였다.
⊙ 이번 1차 회의에서는 향후 SPI에서 다루게 될 의제와 추진일정을 중심으로 논의하였으며, 주요의제로는 용산기지 이전/주한미군 재배치 관련 후속조치 사항 점검, 군사임무 전환/연합군사능력 발전 등 군사분야 합의사항 시행내용 점검, ｢한미동맹의 비전｣연구 등으로 확정하였으며, 전략적 유연성은 외교부가 주관이 되어 별도로 협의하기로 하였다.
⊙ 앞으로 회의는 격월단위로 개최하되, 양국이 교대로 주최하기로 함에 따라 2차회의는 오는 4월초 적절한 시기에 하와이에서 개최하기로 합의하였다. (끝)

The Results of the First Meeting of
"ROK-US Security Policy Initiative"
1. The first meeting of the "ROK-US Security Policy Initiative" was held on Feb 3(Thu) at the Ministry of National Defense. Dr. Ahn, Kwang Chan, Deputy Minister for Policy of the ROK Ministry of National Defense and Mr. Richard P. Lawless, the US Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (DUSD) for Asia-Pacific Affairs led their respective delegations, which included members of the ROK MND and the US DOD, as well as the MOFAT/DOS and respective JCS.
2. At the first plenary meeting, the discussion centered on the efforts to finalize the future schedules and the key agendas that will be dealt within the context of the SPI meetings. The Key agendas, as concluded by the both sides are Update on the Follow-up Measures of Yongsan Relocation and USFK Realignment, Update on Implementation Status of the Military Affairs inclusive of Military Missions Transfer, Combined Force Capabilities Enhancement, Joint Study on the Vision of the ROK-US Alliance. The Strategic Flexibility issue in which the MOFAT will take the leading role, will be held in the independent discussions with the US.
3. As initially agreed to hold the meetings on a bimonthly basis, with a rotation of venues, US will host the second meeting in early April at Hawaii.
